I was so happy to hear from one of my friends at Photomarbella that I’d been put forward by a lovely Bride & Groom for recognition as a “remarkable photographer” and to be nominated for ‘Photographer of the Year’. Even more surprising for me was that the couple in question were from a wedding that I’d photographed where literally everything that could have gone wrong… did. These things weren’t concerning my photography I’m pleased to say (as I’m proud to maintain a 100% success rate), but the wedding itself however was really not going to plan for many reasons not in the control of anyone from the wedding party.
I just must nominate WeddingPhoto Marbella as Wedding ‘Photographer of the Year’ due to the absolute amazing work they did at my very complicated wedding!

Issues for the Venue
I’m not going to say the name of the venue (especially as it’s my favourite in that area), but they were having a rare ‘off day’ as some of the mishaps were a first for them. Some issues that stood out from the start were the lateness of multiple things, people waiting for their cocktails forever, some not receiving their cocktail despite asking, oh and just prior to the ceremony a guest staying at the venue was taken to hospital when the roof of the room they were staying in collapsed.
Whilst the Bride had said that she would prefer to postpone the ceremony until at minimum they receive confirmation from the hospital their guest’s injuries were not serious, others instead said she should continue as delaying things would not help anyone, so she agreed to proceed. I however must say that when a person is as lovely as this Bride, delaying would of certainty helped from photographic standpoint, as it as plain to see she was distressed by it all and so I did change my shooting style to try and hide this.
Pleased with the Results
So, the reason for my mentioning the issues is because I was very pleased with the results despite the obstacles we had to overcome regarding photography. I had spent the day telling the Bride & Groom that everything will be fine, whilst I was in fact concerned this new ‘never before tried’ approach I was using to hide people’s distress, was not completely guaranteed. I mean, lets face it, to capture a wedding and at times avoid including the bride in the photo is definitely not standard protocol, but yes, I was happy with the results and received nice comments from others who were surprised how well I portrayed what was in reality a difficult situation. People’s faces on the day of disappointment and worry were definitely a challenge to hide at times, but I had a great system and I too was pleased with the results.
Thank you
I would like to say thank you to the Bride & Groom for nominating me, to the people that voted for me and to PhotoMarbella for the gifts and award. It is certainly an honour to be called ‘Photographer of the Year’ and I am proud to show the award in my display cabinet.
Thank you everyone 🙂
